Tierra Verde

Having lived in Clapham for the past 3 years, I thought I pretty much knew all the places worth eating out at. Turns out I was wrong, so, so wrong and when Ana took me to Tierra Verde yesterday, I couldn't believe how much I'd been missing out.

As I've said in previous posts, Ana is generally hugely disappointed with the Spanish eateries in London - she thinks that they are over priced and that the food is not of the highest quality. Happily, Tierra Verde is neither of these things and is in fact insanely good.

Hidden off the Northcote Road, Tierra Verde resides on a quiet street home to an artists gallery, a jewellery shop and a hairdressers. It's small but perfectly formed. The shelves are full of quality, authentic Spanish products like olive oil and paprika and the menu is kept short and simple.

For coffee fans, it's also worth noting that they serve Monmouth.

The owner was exceptionally laid back and came to discuss the menu with us outside. He suggested a 'mixture of this and that to include some freshly baked focaccia'. Not knowing what this and that were, we happily consented. I love that he didn't mention the price either.

We each ordered a different juice - grape, mandarin, orange and pear. Needless to say they were all delicious. Then it was onto the main event - a selection of meats including chorizo and Iberico ham, manchego cheese, olives, and the star of the show, salted foccacia.

And the best thing about it? The price. There was more than enough for 5 hungry mouths and the platter was an astounding  £13. Unbelievable. The juices were also ridiculously good value at £1.60 each and my Monmouth latte was £1.95.

For a chilled out lunch, full of fantastic ingredients that certainly won't break the bank, pay a visit to Tierra Verde. It was one of the best lunches I've ever had.

Follow @tierraverdedeli and find them at 48 Webbs Road, SW11.
